Integrator Hiring Mistake

Today, I’m talking to you Visionaries.

I also have a visual aid, an unhappy Visionary. They’re concerned they made a mistake in the Integrator they hired.

What would make a Visionary feel like this? If deadlines are missed, Rocks don’t get done, the team is not held accountable, Same Page Meetings™ don’t happen with regularity (at least once a month), or if you just feel there’s something wrong – those are all things might make you question if you hired the right Integrator. If that’s the case, how do you handle it? What do you do?

First, we need the Visionary to clearly articulate their concerns. What are the concerns that you have relative to specific expectations? Lay them out with the Integrator in a Same Page Meeting™ in bullet point form. Go through those concerns one-by-one.

For each concern, have three specific data points to offer as examples of why you feel this way. We find that with only one data point, people will explain that one away. If you have two, they may say, “Well, that’s just a coincidence.” With three, it becomes obvious that it’s an epidemic situation. From there, you can engage in the conversation and dig into and try to resolve these specific problems.

After those conversations, we want to see nice, steady progress. We want to see the Integrator getting closer to your expectations in the areas you’ve discussed with them. If you still don’t feel progress, you need to call a first strike. Invoke the three strike rule. Move the situation quickly to either a full resolution of all concerns or end the relationship with this particular Integrator.

Three key points:

  1. Identify your issues. You’ve got to understand what’s making you feel this way. What are specific examples?
  2. Communicate issues to the Integrator in the Same Page Meeting™, point-by-point, with three examples for each.
  3. Either resolve all concerns fully – or end the relationship

Come see us on RocketFuelNow.com. Take the Visionary and Integrator assessments. See where you’re great. See where you could use some help. We’ve been having some great discussions with other Visionaries & Integrators over on LinkedIn and Facebook. Regardless of where you are in your process, I encourage you to join the conversation! And finally, read Rocket Fuel. If you’ve already read Rocket Fuel, and you liked it, we’d love to see a review from you on Amazon. We’d really love to hear what you think.

Until next time, Go ROCKET!

Cheers,

Mark
